What's My Burnout Level is a free self-assessment published by Leading Between The Lines. We collect as little as we can, we never sell it, and this page spells out the specifics in language you can actually read. If anything here is unclear, email us — the address is at the bottom.
What we collect, and only when you give it
You can read every article on this site without telling us anything. Data is collected in two places:
- When you take the test. Your answers to the 30 questions and three quick follow-up questions (your role, your goal, and your organization size), plus timing information about how you moved through the quiz. We use these to score your result and to keep the test well-calibrated over time.
- When you view your results. Your first name and email address, which you enter to see your results on screen and which also subscribe you to our newsletter (more on that below).
Behind the scenes, our server also records a one-way hashed, salted version of your IP address (never the raw address), your browser's user-agent string, the page that referred you, and any campaign tags in the link you arrived from. The IP hash exists only so we can spot a single source spamming the form; it can't be reversed back into your address.
What we do not collect
We do not ask for or store any payment information — the test is free and there is nothing to buy. We do not collect health records, and we do not attempt to identify you beyond the name and email you choose to enter. Your individual answers are used to generate your result and, in aggregate, to improve the instrument; they are not published or attached to your name anywhere public.
The newsletter
Entering your email to see your results also subscribes you to Leading Between The Lines, our newsletter on leadership, team dynamics, and organizational culture. This is a single step, so we want to be plain about it: your email goes to our newsletter provider, Beehiiv, and every issue includes a one-click unsubscribe link. Unsubscribe whenever you like and we stop emailing you.
Who else touches your data
We keep the list of third parties short and functional:
- Beehiiv — sends the newsletter and stores your subscription.
- Neon — the database that stores your test submission.
- Vercel — hosts the site and provides privacy-friendly, aggregate traffic analytics that do not build an advertising profile of you.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information, and we do not run third-party advertising trackers.
How long we keep it
We keep your test submission so your results stay reproducible and so we can improve the test over time. If you would rather we didn't, ask us to delete it and we will. Unsubscribing from the newsletter is handled separately through the link in any issue.
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email the address below from the address you used, and we will take care of it. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time without affecting anything else.
A note on the test itself
What's My Burnout Level is a self-reflection tool, not a medical or psychological service. It does not diagnose anything and is not a substitute for care from a qualified professional. See our Terms of Service for the full picture.
Changes and contact
If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and its date. Questions, corrections, or deletion requests go to chad@whatsmyburnoutlevel.com.
